Madras Cafe is a movie of Bollywood. The film was titled  Madras Cafe, as the plot to kill a famous politician in the movie was hatched at this cafe. The original location of the cafe is not specified in the film.
But in real life there is a real Madras Cafe , not in India but in Zurich, Switzerland.

It’s a small place, but very nicely decorated and the food is delicious & authentic. You feel like you’re the guest of the family running it.
Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It’s not a fancy, up-scale place (like so many in Zürich), but the food is EXCELLENT!
The restaurant is really small, just one room, really informal. It works as a take away also. The menu is written both in english and german, and offers lots of plates
mainly southern Indian cusine. A wide range of vegetation dishes. Dosai and Lamb massala recommended and very authentic. Would like some background Music as it was a bit quiet otherwise very good value for money, good service and nice attention to detail – dishes with individual warmers. Would go back again

This restaurant sets itself away from he pack by providing decent food, which is not overly loaded with unnecessary preservatives like many other Indian joints. The food tastes fresh, the service is swift and the restaurant is clean. The chairs are a bit uncomfortable but this is a matter of personal preference. I will definitely go back to the restaurant, as I liked the food. The prices were average for Zurich but still cheaper than most other Indian places.

This restaurant had nice food at a good price and I loved it but unfortunately this restaurant has closed. 🙁
